Several islands in the Jaffna peninsula at the northern part of Sri Lanka are connected with the mainland by stretches of road network dividing the sea and is an interesting sight of many activities particularly in the morning.

Busy working hours for the local community of fisherman commences as the sunlight brings out the bright spectrum of saturated colors in the boats. With the intertwining life between the fish, the fishermen and the sea birds I would name this region in Jaffna is a major morning stopover for any visitors and locals alike.

The light at this place is one of the best I have photographed and I wish the covid-19 ends soon, so I can return once more.

It is quite a scene to witness the boats navigating around the countless fishing nets and boats placed randomly around the regions by the individual fisherman.

The fishing traps are placed according to the tidal and wind behaviours. Once the school of fish enter near the region they are guided towards the traps of no exit.
